Is therapy right for me?Good question. The truth is, the answer depends on readiness. Sometimes people are ready to take steps to make tangible changes in their lives. Other times other people (parents, spouses, etc) want to see change in their loved ones or friends and want them to feel supported. In any case, therapy is a process and one that benefits different people in different ways. This is a great topic to discuss with Dr. Mandelbaum during the free 15-minute consultation.

Do you take insurance?I am currently considered an out-of-network provider. While payment is due at the time of the session, I provide clients with a superbill with the necessary information and codes that clients can submit to potentially receive reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services. Please reach out to me to discuss this option further.

How long and how often are sessions? The initial intake session, which is focused on gathering information, getting to know each other, and understanding what is most pressing to you, are 50-60 minutes in length. They consist of a conversation with Dr. Mandelbaum that will help guide future sessions. After that, weekly 45-minute therapy sessions are scheduled.

How can I find out if I have out-of-network coverage? You can call your insurance company using the customer service number on your insurance card. You can then ask the representative if you have out-of-network mental health coverage. You will want to find out if you have coverage, if there is a deductible, how much of a co-insurance is, and what the allowed amount is on a session with a 90834 CPT code. This should give you a sense of what your insurance company is willing to cover and how much will be your responsibility. Dr. Mandelbaum is also happy to talk this through futher.
