Frequently asked questions
Is therapy right for me?
Good question. The truth is, the answer depends on readiness. Sometimes people are ready to take steps to make tangible changes in their lives. Other times other people (parents, spouses, etc) want to see change in their loved ones or friends. In any case, therapy is a process and one that benefits different people in different ways. This is a great topic to discuss with Dr. Mandelbaum during the free 10-minute consultation.
What does a session cost?
Please contact Dr. Mandelbaum to find out session rates. Dr. Mandelbaum works with clients towards making mental health care accessible.
Do you take insurance?
At this time, I am accepting Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. Outside of BCBS, I am considered an out-of-network provider. While payment is due at the time of the session, I provide clients with a superbill with the necessary information and codes that clients can submit to possibly receive reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services.
How long and how often are sessions?
The initial intake session, which is focused on gathering information, getting to know each other, and understanding what is most pressing to you, are 50-60 minutes in length. They consist of a conversation with Dr. Mandelbaum that will help guide future sessions. After that, weekly 45-minute therapy sessions are scheduled.
What areas do you serve?
With my office located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, clients come from throughout the Bronx, Westchester, Manhattan, and North Jersey. With teletherapy options available as well, working with clients living outside of the immediate NYC area is possible.
